Calculate the power
Help for calculating the power adapted to your application
NB: for single-phase load supplies, ensure that the load distribution is balanced between the 3 phases with a maximum difference of 20%
What kind of load is it? > Another kind of load
Inductive
Electric motors in general: pump, crane, grinder, circular saw, concrete mixer, etc.
Power coefficient
x 1.6
For example
For an electric motor developing 100 kWe:
100 Kwe x 1.6 = 160 Kwe power required
160 Kwe/0,8 = 200 kVA power required
As the operation of a generating set is optimised at 75%:
200 / 0.75
= a 275 kVA generating set
Resistive
Thermal resistance: heating, incandescent lamp, lighting, etc.
Power coefficient
x 1
For example
For an electric heating network with a total power of 100 kWe:
100 Kwe x 1 = 100 Kwe power required
100 Kwe = a 125 kVA generating set
As the operation of a generating set is optimised at 75%:
125 / 0.75
= a 165 kVA generating set
Capacitive
Load compensated by a capacitor: capacitor discharge lamps, electronic equipment, UPS, sound amplifying devices
Power coefficient
Convert to kVA and calculate the average Cos Phi of the installation
For example
For 100 kWe sound amplification with an average Cos Phi of 0.6, divide the kWe load by the Cos Phi to obtain the necessary power in kVA
As the operation of a generating set is optimised at 75%:
166 / 0.75
= a 220 kVA generating set
